I have said in the last post that I am persuaded that we are living in the times of the Man Child. Today, what I want to do is point us to the signs of the times we live in.
The Book of Revelation tells us that two signs appeared in heaven before the Man Child was born. One of a woman and another of a dragon (Revelation 12:1-3). When a sign is said to be seen in the heavens, it is indicative of a wide spread sign which is evident to all. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the sign is understood by all who see or know of the sign, it simply means that it is visible to all.
The first sign is that of the Woman…
Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet… (Revelation 12:1).
There is a difference between the sign that appeared in heaven and the vision of the Woman herself. The sign was that of a constellation, but the woman was prophetic of a move of the Spirit as we discussed in previous posts. We have already discussed the significance of the Woman so today we unravel the mystery of the sign!
The Woman was clothed in the sun with the moon under her feet with a garland of twelve stars, but the sign referred to was Virgo (a constellation shaped like a woman and named after a Latin word which means virgin). The fact that she was pregnant was a deliberate allusion to the Virgin Mary and her conception and birth of Christ.
Here is something even more fascinating. Did you know that this constellation was part of the sign seen by the Magi in the heavens that led them to Christ? This along with the star of Bethlehem. Astronomers of today have discovered that during the time of the Lord Jesus’s birth, the constellation named Virgo appeared over the earth’s horizon, and behind Virgo was the sun. The position of the sun was such that it appeared like she was clothed in the sun and beneath her feet was the moon. Again, an uncanny resemblance to the Woman in John’s vision!
Please remember, the Woman John saw was not Virgo! The Woman was symbolic of a mature and pregnant church, while Virgo was the sign of the time of this pregnancy. The sign of Virgo and that of the Woman were divinely juxtaposed in John’s Revelation as a prophetic message that only the likes of the Magi can decipher. These are the spiritual ‘sons of Issachar’ who understand the times and what Israel ought to do.
There were other activities in the sky that night (which I cannot discuss here) but those celestial activities were all pointers to the time and birth of Christ, many saw it but only the Magi understood it and acted on it.
Recently, without looking for it, I stumbled upon a recent astronomical discovery. The alignment of the constellation Virgo ‘clothed’ in the sun with the moon under her feet has never been seen again since the last sighting by the Magi, but as God will have it, all three heavenly bodies – Virgo, the Sun and the Moon – are due to realign, in the same order as before, over the horizon of the planet earth this year. The date of this realignment of the heavenly bodies is slated for September 11, 2017. What is interesting about this date is that it’s the same date as the last appearance of this sign over the earth more than two millenniums ago. More than that, September 11 is also believed by many to be the same date the Lord Jesus was actually born. Now isn’t that amazing? To the uninitiated, this is just a coincidence, but to the spiritual ‘sons of Issachar’ this is providence.
Some skeptics would think of this as astrology, but they are greatly mistaken. There is a difference between astronomy and astrology. One is pure science and the other is occultism. One is a study of stars as time and weather indicators, the other is a belief in the stars as agents of fate.
I love ‘the thermometer distinction’ given between astronomy and astrology by Dr Lawson. He says the stars are like thermometers, they can tell you if something is hot or cold, but they cannot make things hot or cold because they are not active agents, they are simply indicators.
More so the scriptures tells us that the stars are designed to bear witness to the gospel. Or who do you suppose Paul was referring to when he said in Romans;
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18 But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.” Rom 10: 17-18
Was he speaking of Isaiah, David or one of the Psalmist? No. He was speaking of the signs of the stars and the constellations.
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world… Psalms 19:1-4
Today, their voice and speech is clearly heard by those who are sensitive to the Spirit, and we dare to declare what they signify in the heavens. This realignment of the constellation Virgo, with the sun and the moon is an indicator that the time of the Man Child spoken of in Revelation 12 is upon us!
The second sign is that of the dragon…
And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon… (Revelation 12:3)
As soon as it was said that the Woman was pregnant and about to bring forth the Man Child, a sign appeared in heaven, it was the fiery red dragon. As with the first sign, it must be noted that the sign in reference here is not the same as the dragon, both are simply superimposed upon each other to be instructive. The dragon is the devil, but the sign represents evil bloodletting. That’s why the dragon is described as being fiery, and red! It is indicative of fiery trials and bloody persecution.
This is the second sign of the time of the Man Child. It would be a time when the faithful and the innocent are devoured and ravaged without cause. The dragon wants to destroy anything in its path, and right now, the only thing in its path is the gloriously adorned church – the Woman. That’s why there are so many senseless killings in Northern Nigeria and across the globe. The dragon wants so badly to extinguish this fire of revival like he once attempted to do when he initiated the genocide of all male children in Egypt and again in Bethlehem. Each time he was after the Man Child. Moses was the first, then our Lord Jesus, and now, it is you and I – the Last Day Church. In the days of Moses, the chief instrument of the dragon to do the killings was Pharaoh, in the days of our Lord Jesus it was Herod, today it is radical Islam.
Unfortunately, the church has not been sensitive enough to know how God expects us to handle this. When Pharaoh struck, God preserved the first Man Child – Moses – by sneaking him out of harm’s way and into Pharaoh’s palace for safe keeping. The same thing with the Lord Jesus, an angel of the Lord instructed Joseph to sneak Him out of Jerusalem and flee to Egypt.
“Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.” Matthew 2:13
If the first and second generation of the Man Child did not resort to the arm of flesh in retaliation then I don’t see why some in today’s Church are advocating for violence and carnal weapons in this fight against the fiery red dragon. The scriptures make it very clear what to do in the face of persecution;
“When they persecute you in this city, flee to another”. (Matthew 10:23; See also Matthew 24:16).
To flee is not cowardice when it is the word of the Lord. The time is coming when the command will not be to flee, but to return in the Lord’s power like Moses did when he returned to Egypt and like the Lord did when He returned from the wilderness. In that time we will visit the indignation of the Lord upon any who attempts to harm the Lord’s anointed, just as the Ten Plagues shook Egypt to a standstill. When we confront the violence, our weapons would not be carnal but supernatural. But until then, the command is to flee.
These are the signs of the times and herein is the ‘handwriting on the wall’. He that has ears to hear, let them hear what the Spirit has to say to the Churches. Amen.
