Hidden Treasures

The Bible, like a goldmine, is filled with precious truths. Sometimes Scripture is very clear about what it says, but sometimes we need to drill deep and do some excavation work ourselves (by the help of His Spirit of course). However, when you dig, what you find becomes much more precious. (For where your treasure is there your heart will be also).

Today, I started my morning drawing strength from this verse and I want to share it with you.

Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms. (Luke 24:44b)

I read this and I see how Christ’s suffering and death relate to us and how we can learn from it.

Courage:

“Everything must be fulfilled.”

Jesus knew that He was going to suffer excruciating pain for us at the cross, yet He faced it with courage. We always have one thing or the other that we need courage for; to face each day. We can count on Him to grant us the courage we need.

Knowledge:

“Everthing… that is written.”

Jesus studied and knew the Word of God. Look within your heart and see how much Word you have in there. When we face the enemy like Jesus did in the wilderness, we’ll need to be able to say, “Get thee behind me Satan, for it is written…”.

Identity:

“…written about me.”

Jesus understood and acknowledged His identity as the Messiah. Beyond that, He saw Himself in the pages of Scripture. Do you see yourself when you look into the prefect law of liberty? Can you say, as John the baptist, “I am the Voice in the wilderness that Isaiah spoke about“?

We cannot establish our full identity without the Scripture.

Let us go beyond reading and hearing the Word of God and put the Word into practice, remembering the words of Chesterfield,
